Bobcats Inch Closer To History
March 9, 2009 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Bismarck Bobcats News Release
The Bismarck Bobcats (35-13-2, 72 points) won Saturday night 4-3 in a shootout against the Owatonna Express (26-22-3, 55 points). The victory secures home-ice advantage in the first round for the Bobcats. The magic number for Bismarck to clinch the Central Division championship in the regular season moves to 9 points with the North Iowa Outlaws losing to the Albert Lea Thunder Sunday night 4-1.
The Bobcats are two wins away from tying the franchise record for wins in a season (37), which was set in the 2002-2003 season when the Bobcats competed in the America West Hockey League. The Bobcats have eight games remaining in the regular season and could tie the record this weekend against Albert Lea in the V.F.W. Sports Center.
Despite a successful history, Bismarck has never won a division title in the North American Hockey League.
The Bobcats will host the Albert Lea Thunder on Friday (7:30pm) and Saturday (7:00pm) in the V.F.W. Sports Center. Order your tickets online at http://tickets.bismarckbobcats.com/. You can listen to the game on Super Talk 1270 AM with the "Voice of the Bobcats," Skip Berry beginning 30 minutes before the puck drops for "The Dvorak Motors Pre-Game Show." Also, watch every game online through the B2 Networks.
