Bismarck Bobcats News Release
Helping Hand
VIENNA, AUSTRIA - With over half of the 2016 World Junior Championships now in the books for Division I, Group A, Bismarck Bobcats forward Tobias Fladeby has found his way onto the score sheet, recording an assist for Team Norway.
Fladeby's assist came on Monday in the Norwegians' 3-2 loss to the host Austrians.
Through three games, Norway is 1-1-1 and four points behind group frontrunner Latvia, who edged the Norwegians in a shootout Wednesday morning.
With each regulation win worth three points, however, Norway is far from out of contention with games remaining against fifth-place Kazakhstan on Thursday and third-place Germany to close the tournament Saturday.
The 19-year-old native of Asker, Norway, will return to the Bobcats following the Christmas break for their December 30 game at Minot.
Macon Moves
Despite only 15 games played thanks to a pair of call-ups to the ECHL, 2006-07 Bobcat alum Shawn Skelly is tied for sixth in the SPHL in scoring with 16 points (7g, 9a).
Skelly jumped into sixth in scoring thanks to a monster weekend for the Macon Mayhem, scoring two goals and adding three assists in three games between Thursday and Saturday.
The Wolverine Lake, Mich., native is five points clear of the next-highest-scoring Bobcat alum, Charlie Mosey (2010-11), who has 11 points on two goals and nine assists.
In four seasons in the SPHL, Skelly has compiled 107 points (52g, 55a) in 121 games played. He's also posted 28 goals and 29 assists in 102 ECHL appearances.
Packed in Tight
Entering the last week before the Christmas break, the Central Division has the tightest standings in the NAHL, with just six points separating first and fifth place. The next-closest split between first and fifth is the South, where 27 points separate first-place Wichita Falls and fifth-place Corpus Christi.
Last week, linemates Alex Strand and Harrison Aide led the Cats in scoring; after combining for nine points, linemates Willie Brown (10g, 13a) and Aaron Herdt (9g, 14a) are now tied for the team's top scoring mark.
Saturday's 5-1 win at Brookings ended a run of seven straight games in which the Bobcats registered a power play goal.
At 14-7-0, Hunter Shepard has already equaled his win total from all of 2014-15.
Upcoming Schedule
Fresh off a road sweep in South Dakota, the Bobcats will wrap up their four-game road swing Friday in Minot before returning to the VFW Sports Center for Teddy Bear Toss Night against Brookings.
