(PORT HURON, MICH.) - Bobby Kukulka, right wing for the Port Huron Flags, earned the United Hockey League's top honors, being named Player of the Week for week 10, and is the first Flag to claim the title this season.

Starting Wednesday, he went on a roll, scoring both Flags' goals in Elmira and winning the game for the team. He netted another goal on Friday at home against the Jackals, followed by a goal and 2 assists on Saturday facing Quad City and rounded out his streak with the game-winner on Sunday, with 11 seconds left on the clock to end the Flint Generals' 4-game winning streak.

His 7 points (5 goals, 2 assists) propelled the Flags to their first undefeated week of the season, going 4-0-0 from Wednesday to Sunday. Prior to week ten, the Flags had struggled with scoring goals at critical times. Kukulka signed with the Flags a week and a half ago, and was brought to Port Huron to jump start the offense.

"I'm kind of speechless," said Kukulka, when told of his award. "It feels great when the team is doing so well and we're on a roll. I'm just glad I could get the job done for the team."

Kukulka split the 2004-05 season with the Generals and now-defunct Richmond Riverdogs. Additionally, he played 75 games with Richmond in 2005-06. This is his first time receiving the league award.
