UHL names players of the week

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Port Huron Flags right wing Bobby Kukulka has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Muskegon Fury goaltender Clayton Pool has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, December 17th, 2006.

Kukulka completed the week with seven points (5g, 2a) and a plus-3 rating in four games played. Coming into the week, he had scored one point (1a) in his first three games with the club this season. He scored both goals in the 2-1 victory vs. Elmira on Wednesday which included the game-winner scored with just 1:25 remaining in the game. Kukulka scored a goal in Friday's 4-2 win vs. Elmira. He then tallied three points (1g, 2a) in the 5-2 win vs. Quad City on Saturday. He ended the weekend by scoring the game-winning goal with 12 seconds remaining in the 4-3 win vs. Flint on Sunday. The 23-year-old native of Macomb, Michigan is in his third UHL season and is currenlty riding a four-game goal streak.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Jon Booras, Elmira center Erik Anderson, Flint defenseman Gerard Miller, Fort Wayne center Bruce Richardson, Kalamazoo left wing Lucas Drake, Muskegon center Todd Robinson, Quad City forward Don Parsons, and Rockford defenseman Dan Boeser.

Pool finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA), a .970 save percentage (SPCT), and one shutout. He stopped all 35 shots in Friday's 4-0 win vs. Bloomington. It was his second consecutive shutout on the road and it tied him for the lead among UHL goaltenders with three shutouts this season. Pool then made 29 saves in the 3-2 win vs. Chicago on Saturday. It is the second consecutive week that the 28-year-old native of Abbotsford, British Columbia has earned the weekly honor. He leads all UHL goaltenders in GAA (1.74), wins (17), and SPCT (.942). He is riding a four-game win streak in which he has allowed just three goals (0.75 GAA). Pool has yet to lose a game on the road this season (11-0-0).

Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Chicago's Marty Magers, Elmira's Kris Tebbs, Flint's Bryan Worosz, Fort Wayne's Kevin St. Pierre, Kalamazoo's Tom Askey, Port Huron's Noah Ruden, Quad City's Jason Tapp, and Rockford's Brenden Cuthbert.
