Bob Valvano and Jim Wombwell Announced as Voice of Louisville City FC

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (April 15, 2015)-- - Louisville City FC announced today ESPN 680 Louisville r adio personalities Jim Wombwell and Bob Valvano will be the official broadcast announcers of Louisville City FC for the 2015 season .

"We couldn't more excited about our broadcast team," said general manager Amanda Duffy. "The experience and excitement Jim and Bob will bring to our live YouTube broadcast will be second to none in USL and will undoubtedly extend the reach of our growing fan base immediately."

Wombwell, host of the Sunday M orning H angover on ESPN 680, brings three years of soccer play-by-play experience dating back to his call of Dayton Flyers soccer . During that time Wombwell called the historic 14-2-3 season the Flyers had back in 2013. Wombwell announced Louisville City's home opener on March 28th and emceed the club's Kit Reveal event on March 26 th.

Alongside Wombwell, Valvano is a voice heavily recognized by local and national sports fans. Host of ESPN 680 Louisville's Bob Valvano Show and color commentator for University of Louisville basketball, the New York native brings 16 years of experience behind a microphone and has been an analyst on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Although he may be most known for his coverage of college basketball, Valvano is no stranger to the beautiful game having played soccer for Virginia Wesleyan College from 1976 to 1978. He was voted All-Conference First Team as a goalkeeper and still holds the career record for saves at VWC. Valvano also spearheads Louisville Friends of V, the local chapter of the The V Foundation for cancer research, formed by ESPN and Jim Valvano in 1993.

The duo will be calling their first game together on Thursday, April 16th when Louisville City p lays host to the Rochester Rhinos at Louisville Slugger Field.

The game on March 28th is one of 14 regular season home games for Louisville City FC. The club will also be hosting a friendly or possibly a U.S. Open Cup match to fulfill the fifteen games offered to season ticket holders.

Louisville City FC is a professional soccer team founded in 2014 and will begin its first season in USL in March, 2015. The United Soccer League was founded in 2010 and has expanded to 24 teams for the 2015 season. Louisville City FC will play all home matches at Louisville Slugger Field in downtown Louisville.
