Real Monarchs News Release

Sandy, Utah (Wed., April 15, 2015) - Real Monarchs SLC Head Coach Freddy Juarez today announced that the club has signed FW Max Rauhofer, a 24-year old, dual-national Uruguayan/Italian target forward. Nicknamed "Tanque," Rauhofer - who will wear #9 - has received his visa and international transfer certificate, allowing him to be eligible for Friday's game at Colorado Springs (7:00 p.m. MT, www.RealMonarchs.com).

Rauhofer (pronounced ROWW - hoff - er) joins Real Monarchs (0-2-2, 2 pts) from a club called Sud America in the Campeonato Uruguayo league, where he has played the last two seasons after four years with the Liverpool club in his nation's same domestic league. Rauhofer became a professional at the age of 14 with Deportivo Maldonado - his hometown club - in 2005, before a three-year stint abroad in Spain with Albacete (Segunda B).

"Max is a 6-foot-1 striker, a true number nine, which is something we need to add to our mix," said Monarchs Head Coach Freddy Juarez. "Rauhofer has a physical presence, holds the ball well, is good in the air and has excellent feet for a big man. He will also bring experience and professionalism to our side, as he's played on competitive, scrappy teams that have competed for spots in Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana tournaments. Our young players will certainly learn from him."

Juarez - a native of Las Cruces, New Mexico who has several years of experience at the RSL-AZ Academy and recently participated in a two-year Major League Soccer program with the French Football Federation - leads the Monarchs through its inaugural season, with another road game Friday at Colorado Springs, as the club seeks to exact revenge on the Switchbacks, who won 1-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium last Saturday.

The Monarchs have two more games this April in Sandy, hosting "Los Dos" LA Galaxy II on Saturday, April 25, at 8:00 p.m. MT, prior to a visit from the reigning USL champion Sacramento Republic FC on Wednesday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE MONARCHS Real Salt Lake Owner Dell Loy Hansen has formed the Monarchs as an elite lower-division professional squad which bridges the gap between Real Salt Lake and the club's highly-lauded academy at the Grande Sports complex in Arizona, which has produced a perennial pipeline of NCAA Division I players, young professionals and has consistently competed for numerous national championships at the U-18 and U-16 levels in recent years.

The club has ambitiously announced plans to break ground later this year on an 8,000-seat stadium in West Valley City, near the Maverik Center, on the west side of the Salt Lake Valley. The future home of the Monarchs, an NWSL club, and other ancillary professional and community events could open in 2017.
