IRVINE, Calif. (March 25, 2015) - Orange County Blues FC is proud to announce the signing of Swiss midfielder Didier Crettenand for the 2015 USL season.

Born in Martigny, Switzerland, Crettenand joins the team with 12 years of professional playing experience in the Swiss Super League. The midfielder began his professional career in 2003 at age 17 with FC Sion. He made over 150 appearances for the club and scored eleven goals. He won the prestige Swiss Cup in 2006, 2009, and 2011 while with FC Sion.

Crettenand also represented Switzerland on U16 - U21 Swiss National team levels while competing in over 40 International games. In 2013, Crettenand transferred to Servette FC in the Swiss Challenge League, before joining the OC Blues FC for the 2015 season.

"I am very excited to be part of the OC Blues and I hope to help them win a championship! After playing the last 12 years in the Switzerland, I am ready and motivated to play in USL," commented Crettenand.

Head Coach Oliver Wyss is also excited to welcome Crettenand to the team. "Didier is a fantastic addition to the team as he is a player of the highest quality. His experience and leadership will play a pivotal role this season for the Blues," said Wyss.

The Blues open the 2015 season on Saturday, March 28th vs Arizona United SC. Kickoff is 7:00PM from UC Irvine's Anteater Stadium.
