Somerset Patriots News Release
Bridgewater, NJ- The Bridgeport Bluefish (27-21) defeated the Somerset Patriots (28-19) 4-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Thursday night.
Somerset scored their lone run in the bottom of the second on an RBI groundout by Tyler Bortnick.
The Bluefish tied up the game in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Angel Rosa.
Bridgeport took the lead with three runs in the sixth inning on an RBI double by Daniel Fields and a two-run single by Andrew Lambo that made the score 4-1.
"We played them well so far this half. Tonight, we really didn't threaten much," said Somerset Patriots manager Brett Jodie. "We had a few chances for some runs, but we just didn't hit well with runners in scoring position. We have to get a little better in those situations."
Rainy Lara (4-2) picked up the win, allowing a run on five hits and struck out seven in six innings pitched. David Kubiak (2-5) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on four hits and six strikeouts in 5.1 innings pitched. David Carpenter earned his 18th save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning pitched.
The 2017 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Tuesday, June 13th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks. The game includes a Summer Job Fair Night and Free Ice Cream for Kids. For tickets, visit www.somersetpatriots.com.
