
Bluefish Fall in Finale of Series

(York, PA. - July 19, 2012) - The Bridgeport Bluefish (4-3, 35-42) suffered a rain-shortened loss against the York Revolution (2-5, 37-39) on Thursday by a score of 3-1 in five-and-a-half innings at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Bridgeport is now 6-8 against York this season.
Edgardo Baez hit a solo homer to lead off the contest. It was his first as a member of the Bluefish. The starting outfielder collected two hits in three at-bats on Thursday. Brock Peterson extended his on-base streak to thirteen in a row with a single to center in the sixth; it was his only hit of the night.
York scored three runs in the second inning to account for the only scoring for the home team on the night. James Shanks and Danny Gonzalez drove in the only runs of the night while the other came home on an error on attempted double play turn.
Bridgeport hurler Dan Serafini (3-1), took the loss as the southpaw allowed three runs on five hits and five walks while fanning three in five-and-a-third frames before the rains came
York hurler, Derrick Gordon (2-4), picked up the win as the southpaw starter completed five frames of one run, five hit, and one strikeout baseball. Adam Thomas gave up one hit and completed a scoreless sixth inning to pick up his fourth save of the season.
Bridgeport starts a three game series against the Lancaster Barnstormers on Friday. First pitch is slated for 7:00 PM. Bridgeport will send righthanded pitcher, Raymar Diaz (2-7, 8.36 ERA), to the hill against Lancaster righthanded starter Dwayne Pollok (6-0, 2.33 ERA). The pre-game show airs twenty minutes before each first pitch.
