Bridgeport Bluefish News Release
Eddy Ramos took the mound for the Bluefish with the possibility of clinching the second half title for the North Division. Ramos pitched a strong five innings giving up two runs on just six hits while striking out two and earning his second win of the season. The Bluefish won the game 7-5 to solidify their second half crown and Playoff berth.
Tony Mota walked in the bottom of the second inning and stole second on the next pitch. Damian Rolls and Steve Hine then walked to load the bases for Bryant Nelson who also walked to give the Bluefish a 1-0 lead.
After Deivi Cruz singled in the bottom of the third inning, P.J. Rose walked. With two ducks on the pond, Willis Otanez hit a towering homerun to left field, giving the Bluefish a 4-0 lead.
In the top of the fifth inning Jason Bowers reached base which led to a two-run homerun from Reggie Taylor, his 20th of the season.
In the bottom of the fifth the Bluefish fought back with singles from both Rose and Otanez. Mota walked to load the bases and then Rolls picked up an RBI with an infield grounder (5-2). Hector Kuilan then dropped a hit into shallow right field, bringing home Otanez and Mota to put that Bluefish at a 7-2 lead.
Jeremy Todd made the score 7-4 in the top of the seventh with a solo shot to right field off Scotty Layfield. Layfield then struck out Jose Ortiz to end the inning.
The Barnstormers got one run back in the top of ninth but it would not be enough to stop the motoring bluefish who cruised to a clinched playoff berth.
