Bluefish Acquire Pennino

(Bridgeport, Conn. - July 1, 2010) - Bridgeport Bluefish team officials today announced that catcher Tom Pennino has been acquired from the Newark Bears for catcher Todd Jennings. Pennino joins the Bluefish after appearing in 44 combined games with the Long Island Ducks and Newark Bears. He joins the Bluefish during his fourth season of professional baseball and first in the Atlantic League.

The Long Island native last played in 2008 with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League where he set career highs in AVG (.278), RBI (33), home runs (3), hits (60) and total bases (80). He made his professional baseball debut in 2006 with the Otters. The 25-year-old accumulated seven home runs, 60 RBI and 20 doubles in three seasons and racked up an impressive 40% caught stealing percentage in 175 games behind the plate.

The Bridgeport Bluefish have also activated pitcher Luis Arroyo from the disabled list and, to make room on the roster, have released pitcher Pat Bresnahan.
