BlueClaws Start Dance Team

Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

LAKEWOOD, NJ - The BlueClaws are starting a dance team! For the first time, the baseball team will have a dance team perform at BlueClaws games throughout the season, plus at select community appearances.

The BlueClaws Dance Team is open to girls ages 8-18, and anyone that wants to sign up can participate. However, it is strongly advised that the 13 to 18 year old group [Junior Pro], have cheer or dance experience. "Professional level" choreography is taught at this level.

Upon completion of our first season in 2010, there will be auditions for both groups in 2011, however all girls that ARE on the 2010 team will be allowed to register in 2011 with "veterans preference" and will NOT have to audition.

"There's nothing quite like the thrill of performance in front of thousands of people on a packed night at the park," said Lou Jacobs of Statewide USA Pro Cheer, who will run the team. "But more than that, the experience and training that the girls will be getting through this program is extensive and immensely valuable."

Jacobs previously directed the Philadelphia Soulmates, the official dancers for the Arena Football League's Philadelphia Soul.

The dance team will go through monthly clinics running March through September and performances will include, but will not be limited to, BlueClaws games, for which each dancer will get a free ticket.

Each dancer will also receive an official uniform to go along with the hours of instruction. Dancers will be broken into two teams, a Junior Pro team for girls ages 13-18, and a Junior Prep team for girls ages 8-12.

The total investment for the six month program is $495 per dancer and the $100 pre-registration fee is not due until March 15th.

To sign up or with any questions, call 1-888-898-0864 for a flyer and order form.

The 2010 season will mark the BlueClaws tenth season of play, and the team will have a new logo and new uniforms for the first time in team history.

The BlueClaws won their second South Atlantic League title in 2009, and led the league in attendance for the ninth straight year. The team also won the league's Club Merit Award and became the fastest in New Jersey and SAL history to reach 4-million fans.
