
BlueClaws Set for Season-Opening Seven-Game Homestand

LAKEWOOD, N.J. - The Lakewood BlueClaws open the season with a seven-game homestand starting with four games against the Lake County Captains on April 3-6. After an off-day on April 7, the BlueClaws return to action for a three-game series with the Hagerstown Suns on April 8-10.
The Captains are the single-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians and visit FirstEnergy Park for the first of three series in Lakewood this season.
On Opening Night, every fan through the gates will receive a schedule magnet courtesy of Pine Belt Chevrolet. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. as the BlueClaws take the field for the first time in 2008. Phillies broadcaster Tom McCarthy will be broadcasting the game, which will be available on the BlueClaws flagship stations, WOBM 1160-AM and WADB 1310-AM.
Friday night's game will be the first fireworks game of the season. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. with postgame fireworks thanks to Toyota World of Lakewood. Former Phillies pitcher Mitch Williams will also be on hand to throw out the ceremonial first pitch and sign autographs while promoting his new line of Wild Thing Salsas.
The BlueClaws will play a pair of 1:05 p.m. games on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's game is Buster's Birthday and mascots from New Jersey and beyond will be in attendance to celebrate with the BlueClaws mascot. In addition, the fist 2,000 fans 17 and under will receive Buster pillowcases, courtesy of Commerce Bank.
Sunday will be the first ever 60 Degree Guarantee Day at FirstEnergy Park. If it is not 60 degrees at the time of first pitch, every fan that stays for the entire game will receive a voucher for a BlueClaws ticket to any future game. It will also be Rumson Day presented by Fidelity Investments of Shrewsbury.
After a day off on Monday, the BlueClaws return on Tuesday, April 8 for a three-game series against the Hagerstown Suns, the Class A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, with all three games beginning at 6:35 p.m. The series-opener will be the first Senior Day Tuesday, presented by Commerce Bank, of the season. All seniors will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, chips and soda and every fan will also receive a baseball bingo card. The first 2,000 fans of all ages will get a BlueClaws schedule cup, thanks to AIG.
Wednesday's game will feature a Phillies souvenir cup giveaway to the first 2,000 fans. Before Thursday's game, the BlueClaws will host a "Spring Cleaning." In conjunction with K98.5 and Mobile Attic at Hecht Trailers, new or used sporting goods equipment will be collected outside FirstEnergy Park. A Mobile Attic will be stationed outside the ballpark, and fans can drop off their equipment, which will be donated to the Lakewood Little League and the Ocean County YMCA. Thursday will also be a BlueClaws batting helmet giveaway, courtesy of UTZ Quality Foods.
