LAKEWOOD, N.J. - With just nine weeks to go until Opening Day, the Lakewood BlueClaws have released their 2009 promotional schedule. Many longtime staples have returned with several new promotions added for the upcoming season.
This year's promotional schedule will highlight a number of players involved in the Phillies' 2008 World Series championship, and includes bobblehead dolls, caps and much more, with additional promotions to be released at a later date.
On Opening Day, April 9th, the World Series trophy will be at FirstEnergy Park as part of the World Series Trophy Tour presented by Teva Pharmaceuticals and Comcast SportsNet. Fans will receive magnet schedules courtesy of Pine Belt Chevrolet and have the opportunity to take their picture with the trophy.
Cole Hamels, a 2003 BlueClaws pitcher and 2008 NLCS and World Series MVP, will be featured on a bobblehead doll presented by RE/MAX of New Jersey on July 16th. Hamels will also be on XL T-shirts to be given away on July 20th, sponsored by InVision Eyecare, and on a cap given away May 12th. On June 30th, J.A. Haap, a BlueClaw in 2005, will be honored with his Made the Phillies Bobblehead doll presented by Verizon Wireless.
Fellow Phillie, and 2002 BlueClaw, Ryan Howard will be featured on a cap on May 26th thanks to Home Depot and he will also be with his other teammates in a World Series Poster to be given away on June 27th sponsored by the Asbury Park Press.
Additional promotions include Summer and Fall Concert Ticket Extravaganzas on May 28th and August 23rd, Bark in the Park presented by WRAT 95.9 on May 9th. Always a favorite, Buster's Birthday Party on April 11th will feature Buster Growth Charts being given away, thanks to TD Bank.
Returning entertainers include the Phillie Phanatic courtesy of OceanFirst Bank on June 29th and August 24th and the ZOOperstars on June 8th and August 6th. Former Mets and Yankees star Darryl Strawberry will sign autographs on August 1st as will professional wrestler Jim Duggan on June 20th sponsored by Countyline Hardware.
Fireworks, presented by Toyota World & Scion World of Lakewood, will follow every Friday home game and will also occur after the games on May 24th and July 2nd. Kids eat free every Monday thanks to ShopRite. Tuesdays are Baseball Bingo and Seniors Eat Free nights courtesy of TD Bank and Thirsty Thursdays return with dollar beers being offered in the Coors Light WRAT Trap.
