
Blue Wahoos Announce 2013 Schedule

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos today announced their 2013 season schedule. The team opens the season with a five-game homestand on Thursday, April 4, 2013 against the Tennessee Smokies at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.
The club will play 70 contests at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium as part of the 140-game 2013 Southern League campaign. The season will last 152 days, beginning on April 4 and ending on September 2. The home slate includes 10 games in April, 19 in May, 11 in June, 14 in July and 16 in August, before finishing the year on the road in Mobile for the first two days of September. The 2013 Southern League All-Star Break is July 15 to July 17, with the location of the contest still to be announced.
The I-10 Panhandle Series against the Jacksonville Suns will make its first trip to Pensacola for the second homestand of the season. The two clubs will meet in a five-game set April 15-19 as they open play for the coveted Golden Skillet. The two Sunshine State rivals will meet again in Pensacola May 28-June 1 and August 7-11.
The Bay-to-Bay series with the Mobile BayBears will make its first stop in Pensacola from May 17-22. The two SL South rivals will close out the first half against each other June 13-17 in Pensacola. They will also finish the regular season with five games in Mobile August 29-September 2. Pensacola will be home again for the Fourth of July, beginning a five-game series with the Jackson Generals on Independence Day. The game will be played early again to allow for the Sertoma Club's city-wide fireworks display with the Blue Wahoos holding their 4th of July blowout show on Saturday, July 6.
The Blue Wahoos will be in town for both Mother's Day (May 12) and Father's Day (June 16) during the 2013 season. The Mother's Day game will open the Blue Wahoos longest homestand of the season, 10 games. Chattanooga and Mobile will be in town for a pair of back to back five game sets.
Pensacola will embark on a pair of 10-game roadtrips in 2013, their longest journeys of the season. The first will close out April from Saturday, April 20 through Monday, April 29 making stops in Jackson and Kodak, Tenn. The second 10-game trip begins Sunday, June 2 in Montgomery and goes through Tuesday, June 11 in Mississippi.
The on-sale dates for season and single-game tickets will be announced in the future.
The Pensacola Blue Wahoos are the Double-A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds. The team's inaugural 2012 season is underway but it's not too late to book 2012 group outings.
