Valley Blue Sox News Release

Holyoke, MA - It's not even the Fourth of July yet but the Blue Sox and the Brigade decided to provide fans with some early fireworks.

After the Brigade (8-6) pushed across two runs in the top of the first inning of a two-run shot by Matt Beaty, his first of the season, the Blue Sox fired right back.

Following an RBI double by Vahn Bozoian scoring Jason Lombardozzi and Sal Annuziata scoring on a Brendan Hendriks single the Blue Sox took the lead on a sacrifice fly from Joel Fisher scoring Bozoian and taking the lead.

Up 3-2, the Blue Sox (9-9) were unable to hold off the Brigade as they jumped all over Dan Patrick (0-1) scoring a run on him in the second and third inning taking a 4-3 lead and they would never look back.

Jonah Philley (1-0) was able to settle in after the first inning shutting out the Blue Sox the rest of the way going six innings allowing just the three runs on six hits.

It was close until the sixth inning when four singles and a wild pitch blew the game open giving the Brigade a commanding 9-3 lead.

Holyoke would make a run in the eighth inning pushing across four runs but falling just short in the end 13-7.

The Blue Sox are back in action on Thursday, July 4th, against the Danbury Westerners.

It will be Ladies Night so all the ladies get into the game for $1.

First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. at Mackenzie Stadium with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
