Valley Blue Sox News Release

HOLYOKE, MA - The Hoyoke Blue Sox are pleased to announce "Boston Strong" night on Thursday, July 18th at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Massachusetts during their game against the Mystic Schooners. The team plans to honor the victims of the attacks on the Boston Marathon.

The Blue Sox are also excited to announce that the special guest of the team will be, barring any unforeseen travel complications, Mr. Marc Fucarile. Fucarile was severely injured in the attacks and was the last of thirty-one patients to be released from Massachusetts General Hospital. He is making steady progress in his recovery, and he recently served as the honorary banner captain for game four of the National Hockey League's Stanley Cup Final at the TD Garden between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins.

The Blue Sox are donating a portion of the proceeds from ticket and concessions sales to the fund that has been created to help pay for Fucarile's extensive medical expenses. A silent auction consisting of items donated by various organizations will also be held, with one hundred percent of the money raised being donated to the same fund. Among the items to be auctioned are a hockey stick signed by Boston Bruins defenseman Johnny Boychuk and a baseball signed by Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia.
