Valley Blue Sox News Release

Holyoke, MA - As we begin the month of July that signifies the push for the playoffs in the NECBL are hotter than ever.

With the Blue Sox (9-8) being in one of the most competitive summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country it is expected that it will be a battle to earn one of the four spots in the playoffs out of the Western Division.

Holyoke gets the chance tonight to take over sole possession of second place as they take on the Saratoga Brigade.

The Brigade (7-6) have won four-straight games to put themselves back into contention for a playoff berth following a slow start to the season.

Holyoke and Saratoga both sit 4.5 games off the pace of the Western Division leading Vermont Mountaineers, who notched their league-leading 14th win of the season on Tuesday night.

This marks the second time the Blue Sox and Brigade have met this season, the first ending in a 3-2 victory for Holyoke on June 21.

Fans are encouraged to come out to the game and cheer on the Blue Sox to victory because if Holyoke wins, so do the fans. If the Blue Sox win tonight fans will receive a free ticket to Thursday's July 4th game against the Danbury Westerners.

First pitch for tonight's game is slated for 6:35 p.m. with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m.
