DANVILLE, Va. - In the rubber match between the the D-Braves (19-18) and the Bluefield Blue Jays (25-13), the Jays came out on top in a rain shortened game 7 -2. This was the final matchup of the season between the two teams as Danville went 2-7 in the nine matchups.

Just as in game two of the series, neither team was able to get anything rolling offensively until the midpoint of the game. The Braves were able to work the count against Zak Wasilewski walking five times through the first four frames but the righty was able to pitch around the runners to keep the game scoreless.

Jared Dettmann was excellent for Danville throwing four no hit innings with five strikeouts before giving up a lone run in the fifth.

The offense started in inning five as second baseman Mikey Reynolds scored off an error by Timothy Locastro off the bat of Johan Camargo to break the scoreless tie.

Bluefield did not trail for long as Matt Dean and Jonathan Davis hit back-to-back doubles to tie the game back up at one. Mitch Nay delivered with an RBI single to score another Bluefield run, extending their lead to 2-0.

Danville came through in the top of the seventh to tie the game though in the top of the seventh. Justin Black reached on an infield single and later came across to score on an error by Bluefield shortstop Timothy Locastro.

Bluefield regained the lead in the bottom half of the inning as pitcher Richie Tate tried to nab a comebacker but the ball glanced off his glove allowing Dean to score the go ahead run. The Jays added another on a sac fly to right field by Nay before Dawel Lugo broke the game open with a two run triple to left centerfield.

Bluefield continued the big eighth inning with their second strange run scoring play of the series. Dean skied a ball up on the infield and four infielders convened only to have the ball drop between them giving Dean an infield RBI double.

The rain began to pick up in the eighth and eventually washed out the game, leaving the score at a 7-2 final.

Tate earned his first loss of the season and snapped his innings streak without allowing an earned run at 15.2 innings.

Danville returns to the friendly confines on ALP 325 Field Thursday to take on the second place Pulaski Mariners in the first of a three game set. Thursday will be a special T-Shirt Thursday where the first 300 fans into the stadium will receive a complimentary t-shirt.
