Blue Jackets Recall Dean Kukan for First Time

CLEVELAND - The AHL's defending Calder Cup Champions, the Cleveland Monsters, proudly powered by Constellation, announced Monday that the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets recalled second-year defenseman Dean Kukan from Cleveland for the first time this season. A 6'2", 196 lb. left-handed shooter from Volketswil, Switzerland, Kukan, 23, has 1-12-13 with six penalty minutes and a +1 rating in 37 appearances for the Monsters this season.

In eight career NHL appearances for the Blue Jackets during the 2015-16 season, Kukan notched a +9 rating and in 33 appearances for the Monsters last year, Kukan registered 3-10-13 with eight penalty minutes and a +3 rating. In 17 postseason appearances for the Monsters in 2016, Kukan posted 1-4-5 with two penalty minutes and a +4 rating, helping the Monsters claim the 2016 Calder Cup as AHL Champions. Signed as an undrafted free agent by Columbus on June 1, 2015, Kukan spent parts of four seasons with Lulea HF in Sweden's SHL from 2011-15.
