Oklahoma City Blue News Release
HIDALGO, Texas - The Oklahoma City Blue came up short against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 125-120, in its first road game of the season on Thursday at State Farm Arena.
Dane Miller, one of seven Blue players to score in double figures, topped his career high with 20 points. JP Tokoto led Oklahoma City with 22 points to go with eight rebounds and three steals as Marquis Teague added 20 points and five assists. Dakari Johnson posted 12 points and nine boards while Mustapha Farrakhan and Boubacar Moungoro each scored 12 points off the bench.
After the Blue entered halftime with a two-point deficit, the Vipers began to pull away with a 15-4 run early in the third period to build a 91-80 lead heading into the fourth. The Blue fought its way back into the game with 7-of-11 three-point shooting in the fourth quarter en route to 40 points in the frame, but it wasn't enough to overcome the deficit.
Oklahoma City (0-3) forced 20 Viper turnovers, including ten off of steals.
Rio Grande Valley (2-1) was led by Raphiael Putney with 26 points and 18 rebounds.
The Blue will travel to Frisco, Texas, to take on the Texas Legends on Saturday at 7 p.m. to complete its first road trip of the season. For more information, visit OklahomaCityBlue.com.
