
Blue Crabs Rally Late to Top Patriots

Waldorf, Maryland - The Somerset Patriots (35-28) spoiled an early lead Thursday night in an 8-5 loss to the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (26-37) at Regency Furniture Stadium.
Somerset took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-out, two-run double to right center field from Kyle Roller. They added two more runs in the second on back-to-back two-out RBI singles from Justin Pacchioli and Jermaine Curtis.
The Blue Crabs got back within a run in the bottom of the third inning on a two-out three-run double from Teodoro Martinez.
The Patriots increased their lead back to two in the top of the fifth inning on an Adam Weisenburger two-out RBI single, but Southern Maryland would respond again. Martinez came through with an RBI infield single in the bottom of the fifth made it a one-run contest before Craig Maddox's two-run single in the sixth put the Blue Crabs in front 6-5.
Maddox added a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to provide insurance runs for the Blue Crabs and top off the scoring.
Shane Watson (3-0) received the win after a scoreless inning of relief. Rick Teasley (3-4) allowed six runs (four earned) over six innings to take the loss. Cody Epply (6) tossed a scoreless ninth inning to record the save.
