
Blue Crabs Baseball Returns to Southern Maryland

WALDORF, MD - With just under three weeks until the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs open under the "Anchors Aweigh Opening Day" slogan, the team is getting ready to host its annual Fan Fest and Spring Training at Regency Furniture Stadium in advance of the 2015 season.
Featuring three home exhibition games, Fan Fest (also known as the "Crustacean Celebration") and the Community Caravan initiative, the Blue Crabs Spring Training lineup has been set.
With the team's home opener against the Somerset Patriots scheduled for April 24 at 7:05 p.m., members of the roster will gather to greet fans for the first time this season at the Crustacean Celebration Fan Fest presented by Chick-fil-A. From 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the Blue Crabs will feature numerous avenues for entertainment as well as opportunities for fans to interact with the 2015 roster.
The team has set its first team workouts for Monday, April 13 and Tuesday, April 14. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the team will host Media Day on Wednesday, April 15. Media Day will provide local news outlets with the opportunity to receive press passes as well as an inside look at Spring Training workouts.
The Blue Crabs will once again be conducting community outreach activities in the Southern Maryland with the Community Caravan on Thursday, April 16 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.
Exhibition games will open with a friendly contest on the road against the York Revolution on Friday, April 17. The Blue Crabs will then travel to Lancaster, Pa. to take on the Barnstormers on April 18. Spring Training games at Regency Furniture Stadium will open on Monday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m. when the Blue Crabs host the Barnstormers. The Blue Crabs will host the York Revolution on April 21 at 1:00 p.m. for the final Atlantic League matchup before the season starts. Both Spring Training games are open to the public and admission is free.
The Blue Crabs will conclude their Spring Training schedule with an exhibition matchup against the College of Southern Maryland April 22 at 5:00 p.m. Admission will be accepted in the form of donations, with proceeds benefitting the College of Southern Maryland Athletic Department.
"Spring Training is essentially our final countdown to Opening Day that all gets started with our annual Fan Fest celebration," said Southern Maryland Blue Crabs Assistant General Manager Courtney Knichel. "We have been getting some great weather lately, so we are hoping to see a great turnout from fans as we get ready to introduce our team to the community!"
