Martinsville, Va.- The (12-10) Columbia Blowfish traveled up north to Virginia Saturday night to take on the (6-16) Martinsville Mustangs Saturday night at Hooker Field.

The Mustangs started off the scoring in the first inning, scoring one run off of the bat from third baseman Matt LaRocca (Akron). That would be the only run the Mustangs would score all night as the pitching from the Blowfish proved dominant.

The Blowfish Starter on Saturday was right-hander, Cord Cockrell (Louisiana-Lafayette). Cockrell threw five innings, giving up one run off of two hits no walks, and six strikeouts. Hayden McCutcheon (College of Charleston) came on in relief in the sixth, giving up no runs off of two hits, no walks, and three strikeouts. Hunter Privette would come on to close things out in the ninth, giving up no runs, no hits, no walks, and one strikeout.

The Blowfish scored four runs on the night, off of ten hits, and two Martinsville errors. They would score one in the third, two in the seventh, and one in the ninth. The hot bat of the night was in the hands of shortstop DC Arendas (South Carolina), as he went 2-for-4 one RBI, with two runs scored.

The Mustangs starter Saturday was Kevin Sweeney (Duruy), as he went on to throw 6.1 innings, giving up three runs off of nine hits, one walk, and two strikeouts.

The Blowfish are now (13-10) on the season and are sitting in third place of the Western Standings.

The Columbia Blowfish will be back in action at home Monday night June 24th hosting the Florence Red Wolves. First pitch is set for 7:05pm, gates open at 6pm. It's also "Guaranteed Win Night!"
