Lexington County, SC - The Lexington County Blowfish, in support of the Lexington Wildcats State Championship bid, announced today in conjunction with Z93.1FM The Lake, that they will be sponsoring the radio play by play broadcast of the game.
Blowfish owner Bill Shanahan stated, "What an exciting time for fans of the Lexington Wildcats! We are excited to help get this game on the air. Z93 has a very strong signal providing an opportunity for Wildcat fans in Lexington County and the Midlands to hear the game on the radio!"
Lexington Wildcats Team Colors
The broadcast will air on the Wildcat Sports Network for Saturday's AAAA State Championship game from Williams Brice Stadium at the University of South Carolina. The voice of the Wildcats, Mark Zona, will be handling the play by play duties. Wildcat fans can also access the broadcast by clicking on the "Wildcat Sports Network" tab on the left side of the lexingtonwildcats.com home page. Lexington (13-1) advanced to the final after defeating Spartanburg last Friday. They will meet Northwestern (13-1) .
Lexington enters on a 13 game winning streak, the longest in school history. Their win total of 13 victories in a single season also set a new school record. The Wildcats last played in the championship game in 2000, but have not won the title since 1950.
The broadcast is scheduled for 5:40 PM with kickoff set for 6:00.
