Blowfish Fall to Florence Once Again

July 26, 2014 - Coastal Plain League (Coastal Plain)
Lexington County Blowfish News Release

COLUMBIA, SC - With the Coastal Plain League regular season winding down, the Columbia Blowfish entered Saturday night's tilt against the Florence RedWolves in need of a victory.

Coming into the game, the Blowfish sat a couple of games out of first place in the CPL West and also a couple of games out of the 4th and final playoff spot.

The Florence RedWolves struck first, as a pair of sacrifice flies plated a couple of runs that helped Florence out to the early 2-0 lead.

The Columbia Blowfish offense struggled all evening to find holes against Coastal Carolina and RedWolves starter Zac Burke.

The Blowfish collected 3 early hits against Burke, but could not muster much else until an RBI double from Chase Shelton and a sacrifice fly from Tyler Lancaster in the 9th inning.

The RedWolves added an insurance run in the bottom of the 7th inning and the bullpen came in to shut the door on a Blowfish comeback, as Florence deflated Columbia.

The Blowfish fall to 21-28 on the regular season and 12-9 in the second half. The Blowfish travel to Morehead City tomorrow night to take on the Marlins in a 7:05 P.M. start.
