Blowfish Baseball Presents the 2019 Lexington County Fair

LEXINGTON, SC - On Wednesday at the Annual World Series Luncheon, the Blowfish announced the new theme for 2019, along with additions to the coaching staff and roster. Opening Night is May 30th, 2019.

2019 is the 150th anniversary of the South Carolina State Fair-And to honor that anniversary, the Lexington County Blowfish will be hosting the Lexington County Fair during the 2019 season. As part of the campaign, the Blowfish are creating County Fair themed jerseys Food, Fun, and Games ALL Summer Long at Lexington County Baseball Stadium! Great memories to be had with the return of the Lexington County Fair!

What is your favorite fair food? Everyone has a favorite; whether it's a funnel cake, fresh squeezed lemonade, a corndog, or turkey leg. We will be showcasing a different fair food item each week during the season.

It was another great day at Lexington County Baseball Stadium! Get ready for a season of delicious mouth-watering fair foods as we'll be showcasing one each week of the 2019 season!

Building our Bullpen for 2019-(L-R) New Blowfish Pitching Coach & Blowfish Emcee George Dinsmore at Annual World Series Luncheon. The Lexington County Blowfish are excited to announce the hiring of our new pitching coach, Shawn Torbett. Coach Torbett has over 20 years of coaching experience in high schools across the midlands, including Lexington High, Brookland-Cayce High School, A.C. Flora, and Gilbert High School where he currently teaches. He brings a vast knowledge and wealth of experience to our coaching staff which we, along with head coach Marshall McDonald, believe will take our pitching staff and team to a playoff level.

Latest Blowfish Signings- (L-R) Houston Wright, Jacob Rye, James McConnon Jacob Rye returns to the Blowfish this season. A pitcher at USC-Aiken, Jacob graduated from Gilbert High School and was a bulldog out of the bullpen for the Blowfish last season. James McConnon, a Junior catcher at St. Joe's University has also signed for the 2019 season. Houston Wright, originally from Gaffney, is currently playing at Spartanburg Methodist College. As a first baseman, Houston was one of the top prospects from S.C. in 2017.

Did you know? Lexington County Baseball Stadium has four field dimensions modeled after MLB stadiums. And TWO of those are represented in this year's World Series. The Right Field Foul Pole at 302 is modeled after Boston's Fenway Park. And Homeplate to the backstop is 55 feet, which is the dimension at Dodger Stadium in LA. (The other two dimensions are modeled after Yankee Stadium and Wrigley Field; 318 in left field and 394 in center field.)

The Blowfish once again partnered with Skye Design Studios on the Lexington County Fair Logo (www.sdsbranding.com). SDS developed its Pancakes team identity as well as Blowie's Sweet Spot. SDS is a brand identity and design firm based in the greater New York City area with a satellite location in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. SDS also created the identity for the 2018 CPL All-Star Show, which was hosted by the Blowfish this past July.

Opening Night is Thursday May 30th vs the Forest City Owls at 7:05pm.
