
Bloomington Aims to Grab Fourth-Straight Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Bloomington Extreme defeated the Wichita Wild, 38-34, this past Saturday at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum and will look to take their winning streak to four as they host the RiverCity Rage (8-3) June 13 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum at 7:05 p.m.
The Wichita Wild (5-6) scored on the opening drive of the game when Darius Fudge scampered his way into the end zone for a 1-yard run. The Bloomington Extreme (8-4) cut the lead to 7-3 after kicker Peter Christofilakos netted a 36-yard field goal with just over five minutes remaining in the first quarter.
Wichita began the second quarter like it began the first, as the Wild were able to score on another Fudge 1-yard run, giving the Wild a 17-3 lead with just under ten minutes left in the half. Christofilakos chipped in two more field goals for the Extreme, which cut their deficit to 22-9 entering halftime.
The Extreme countered in the second half, as they opened the third quarter with a touchdown pass from Dusty Burk to Peter Warrick cutting the Wild lead to 22-16. Bloomington scored again, after Laroche Jackson took a missed field goal 45 yards for a touchdown to give the Extreme their first lead, 23-22.
Early in the fourth quarter, Jackson scored took a kickoff 55 yards to the end zone which cut Wichita's lead to 34-31. Later in the fourth the Extreme regained the lead, 38-34, after Burk connected with Glenn Johnson for what would be the game-winning score with just under nine minutes to play in the game.
Warrick took home the Offensive Player of the Week honor after hauling in eight catches for 76 yards and a score, while Extreme named Etric Pruitt the Defensive Player of the Week after registering nine total tackles (six solo). Jackson was named the Special Teams Player of the Week after recording a 45-yard missed field goal return for a touchdown to go along with a 55-yard kick return touchdown. Jackson also recorded an interception in the game.
The Extreme will practice Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m., at U.S. Cellular Coliseum this week in Bloomington, Ill.
