In another hard fought defensive battle, the Green Bay Blizzard scored 15 points in the last 55 seconds to defeat the Quad City Steamwheelers 29 to 26 at the Tax Slayer arena in Moline on Friday night.

The Blizzard scored on a 2 yard run by Rameses Owens with 55 seconds left. The extra point by kicker Cody Barber made the score 26 to 21 Steamwheelers. Then Cody placed a perfect onside kick that was recovered by Levi Copelin on the Steamwheelers 20 yard line. A few plays later Blizzard quarterback Lenorris Footman hit wide receiver Kezlow Smith on a crossing route for a 15 yard touchdown. Lenorris then passed to Kezlow again for the 2-point conversion with 12 seconds left.

Lenorris Footman threw for 108 yards on 12 of 24 and 2 touchdowns. The other touchdown pass was caught by B.J. Hill. Lenorris also ran for 33 yards.

The Blizzard defense held Steamwheelers star quarterback EJ Hilliard to only 59 yards passing and only 2 touchdowns. In the second quarter defensive back Isaiah Brown added to the Blizzard league leading interception total with a drive killing interception in the end zone.

Special teams were special on Friday night as they blocked a Steamwheelers field goal attempt and Joe Powell returned it for a touchdown. Kicker Cody Barber was a perfect 3 for 3 on extra points and had the perfectly place on side kick which led to the victory.

The Blizzard (3-2) and Steamwheelers (2-3) will meet again this Friday night in Green Bay with a special start time of 6:05.
