Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Blizzard (8-7) is currently the #4 Seed in the American Conference, and is looking to lock up a home playoff game this Saturday against the South Georgia Wildcats (SGW). Here are the current playoff seedings:

AMERICAN CONFERENCE

1. Florida (13-2) - x 2. Manchester (11-4) - y 3. Louisville (10-5) - y 4. Green Bay (8-7) - y - Holds HTH advantage over MAC, WBS 5. Macon (8-7) - y - Holds HTH advantage over WBS 6. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (8-7) - y

Here are the different scenarios that the Blizzard is faced with:

The Blizzard currently holds the head-to-head (HTH) tiebreaker against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers (WBS) and Macon Knights (MAC), and all 3 teams hold identical 8-7 records. In the event of a 3-way tie, af2 rules stipulate that the team with the best HTH record amongst each other is seeded the highest. So, by virtue of their 1-1 series split with WBS and their victory over MAC, the Blizzard holds the tiebreaker. MAC defeated WBS earlier in the season, and they play again in the season finale this Saturday.

However, as the Blizzard and WBS split their season series 1-1, WBS holds the HTH tiebreaker against the Blizzard in the point differential category. Simply put, WBS beat the Blizzard by more points (14) than the Blizzard beat them (7). If WBS wins against MAC, then they will host a first-round playoff game, regardless of whether or not the Blizzard wins against SGW.

1.) If MAC defeats WBS and the Blizzard wins, then the Blizzard would host MAC in the first round of the playoffs.

2.) If WBS wins and the Blizzard wins, then the Blizzard would travel to WBS for the first round of the playoffs.

3.) If WBS wins and the Blizzard loses, then the Blizzard would travel to WBS for the first round of the playoffs.

4.) If MAC defeats WBS and the Blizzard loses, then the Blizzard would travel to either Louisville or Manchester (whoever wins the East Division) for the first round of the playoffs.

In the event that the Blizzard would host a first-round playoff game, tickets would go on sale on Monday, August 1st. The Blizzard will have special pricing and promotions for the playoff game, and information would be released with the announcement of playoff tickets.
