Green Bay, WI -DB Elijah Fields has been named IFL Defensive Player of the Week after the Blizzard's 74-25 victory over the Texas Revolution Saturday night. This is the second time in two weeks a Blizzard player has been honored as an IFL Player of the Week.

Fields (6'2,215, Pittsburgh) led the Blizzard's dominating defensive effort as he intercepted two passes against the Revolution. His second and third quarter inceptions helped the Blizzard build a big lead that would not be challenged. In addition, he also made 13 tackles, and had 1.5 tackles for loss. The 13 tackles was one short of the Blizzard's all-time single game record of 14 set by LB Greg Jackson in 2011.

Fields helped the Blizzard defense hold the Revolution to just 76 total yards of offense. He currently leads the team in tackles with 66 and ranks fourth in the IFL. He is also tied for second in the IFL with two forced fumbles and is tied for third with six pass breakups.

Chicago QB Cody Kirby was named Defensive Player of the Week while Nebraska K Joe Houston was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

The Blizzard have a bye this week before returning to action at the Resch Center Friday May 10 as the team takes on the Nebraska Danger at 7:30 P.M. The first 1,500 youth 17 and under will receive a free youth hat sponsored by Martin Security Systems and Fox 11.
