Green Bay Blizzard News Release
In the world of professional sports, it is common for the players and coaches of a championship team to take on new challenges with new teams. For example, Chris Siegfried, Head Coach of the af2 Champion Spokane Shock, has joined the coaching staff of the AFL's Kansas City Brigade. The same rings true for the Front Office staff as well.
Green Bay Blizzard Director of Operations has accepted an offer to join the Front Office of the af2's Everett Hawks as the team's Vice President of Operations.
A member of the Blizzard Front Office since 2003, Elvis and Equipment Manager Jason Derenne are the only staff members to have been with the team since the inaugural year.
After serving as Director of Community Relations in 2003-2004, Elvis was promoted to Director of Operations when former Head Coach Brian Noble joined the Front Office as Managing Partner and Owner. Once in that position, Elvis was given the latitude to customize the team's operations to suit their strengths, and under the direction of General Manager Jim Kraft, who joined the team in 2005, the franchise took off. They reached the pinnacle of success in 2006 with the af2 award for "Most Improved Team Operations" and the team's first trip to ArenaCup7, the af2 Championship Game.
With the Hawks, Elvis will assume all the responsibilities he had with the Blizzard, and will expand his role into team management. "This is an incredible opportunity for me," he said. "I've learned so much from Jim Kraft and Brian Noble over the last two years that I feel I'm ready to take on more responsibility and really put my mark on a franchise. I'm looking forward to working with Sam [Adams, the Hawks' owner] and putting all that knowledge to work for the Hawks."
"This is one of those bittersweet moments," said Kraft, but it's like the players and coaches: when a team is successful, doors are opened and people have opportunities to move on.
Elvis sees the experience he gained with the Blizzard as vital. "What we've done with the Blizzard is really special," he added. "Everyone has worked so hard to make the team a success. We've all learned what to do to make a franchise a success, but more importantly, we've learned what not to do. I want to use that experience to bring the same type of success to the Hawks."
Elvis will begin his Duties with the Hawks on Monday, October 9th.
