Green Bay Blizzard News Release
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) â In his second attempt, Blizzard Head Coach Brian Noble earned his first home victory. The boisterous Green Bay crowd helped the Blizzard keep the momentum throughout the night in their 50-32 victory over the Central Valley Coyotes.
"We're still trying to get noticed around here," said Noble. "It's nice to show the home crowd what we're all about."
The Blizzard (2-3) stopped Central Valley's (0-5) opening drive and followed with a 4-yard touchdown run from Joe Rivard. The run was set up by Chris Greisen's 26-yard strike to Randall Lane.
Green Bay added another touchdown after a Justin Levine field goal, but the conversion was returned by Central Valley's VonKeith Spencer to bring the score to 13-5 in favor of the Blizzard.
The Coyotes would score again to bring the game to 13-12, but Green Bay wouldn't let them get any closer. Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game Chris Greisen would connect on the second of his six touchdown passes, this one to Lane, only 1:39 later. After another Blizzard touchdown, the teams traded touchdowns in the last minute of the half.
"I didn't make the mistakes that I made last time," Greisen said about the difference between the last home game and this one. "I thought the offensive line did a pretty good job, the receivers made some plays for me and the defense was spectacular."
Defense prevailed in the second half, as scoring drives were hard to find. Two of the second-half drives ended on interceptions, the only turnovers in the game. The first interception was by DeRonn Finley on Green Bay's 4-yard line, ending most of Central Valley's hopes of winning. Minutes later, Spencer intercepted a Greisen pass, helping him earn ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors.
Green Bay is starting a three-game home stand, and the Coyotes will host Rio Grand Valley next week in search of their first victory.
