Stealth remain perfect at 5-0

Hidalgo, Tex. - Coming into tonight's game the Wichita Stealth were only giving up 28.5 points per game and that standard held true tonight as they were locked in a defensive battle with the Rio Grande Valley Dorados before finally escaping with a 35-28 victory in front of a rowdy sellout crowd of 5,600 at the Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, Texas. The Stealth pulled ahead of the Dorados 28-21 at the start of the fourth quarter and held onto for their fifth straight victory. The Stealth now set at a perfect 5-0 and the Dorados drop to 3-2 on the season. The Stealth are the only remaining undefeated team in arenafootball2.

Stealth wide receiver/linebacker Brian Livingston earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Game honors for his performance on the night. Livingston finished the night with seven catches for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Stealth quarterback Aaron Sparrow finished the night 25-of-34 for 218 yards and four touchdowns.

The Stealth started the game with just over an eleven-minute drive but it resulted in no points as Stealth kicker Dylan Pohlman missed a 26-yard field goal attempt. The first quarter would end with a 0-0 tie. The Dorados would begin the second quarter and go down the field and get the first score of the game on an 18-yard pass from Will Burch to Bowie McKinley. The Stealth would answer with an 11-yard pass from Sparrow to Livingston tying the game at 7-7. The Dorados would come right back with a one-yard run by Jason Null giving them the 14-7 lead. The Stealth would not be outdone as they marched down the field and score on a nine-yard pass from Sparrow to Bacote. The Stealth would miss the extra-point attempt and would enter the half-time break down 14-13.

The second half would belong to the Stealth, as they would reel off three consecutive scores after the Dorados would open the second half with a touchdown. The Stealth scored on a seven-yard pass from Sparrow to Livingston, a three-yard pass from Sparrow to Thompson, and a five yard run by Anthony Griffin putting them ahead 35-21 with 4:18 left in the game.

The Dorados would get one last score on a 17-yard pass from Burch to Mike Duncan but it would not be enough, as the Stealth defense would hold on for the victory.

The Stealth now sit at 5-0 and in first place in the Southwest Division. They lead the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz by one game and the Tulsa Talons and the Dorados by two games.

Marc Bacote would earn the ADT Defensive Player of the Game honors and Manwell Talbert would earn US Army Ironman of the Game honors for the Dorados.

STEALTH NOTES: Next week, the Stealth will travel to face the Quad City Steamwheelers on May 15th, and then Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz on May 22nd.The next Stealth home game is set for May 29th versus the Laredo Law.
