June 3, 2019 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Green Bay Blizzard News Release
The Green Bay Blizzard defeated the Bismarck Bucks in North Dakota on Saturday evening by a score of 41 to 10. The win clinched a playoff spot for the Blizzard. It's the first time the Blizzard have made the playoffs since 2012. With one more win, the Blizzard can secure a home playoff game the weekend of June 21.
The Blizzard defense was the star of the game on Saturday as they held the Bucks to only 3 first half points and only 7 second half points. It's the least number of points allowed this season and the third lowest point total ever. The Blizzard defense was sparked by 3 interceptions and 5 tackles for loss. Newcomer Heath Harding had his first 2 interceptions and Bakari Triggs snagged his 5th interception of the season. Linebacker Dayshawn Taylor had 6 total tackles to lead the team.
Offensively, quarterback Lenorris Footman had an efficient game. He completed 22 of his 35 passes for 146 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 5 times for 22 yards and one TD. Levi Copelin led the receivers with 6 catches for 58 yards and one touchdown. Keshaun Taylor had the other touchdown catch.
The Bucks offense was hampered by not being able to convert on third down as the Blizzard defense held them to 1 of 11 third down conversions. The Bucks also only converted 1 of their 3 attempts on 4th down. They were only able to muster 99 total offensive yards while the Blizzard had 226 total yards.
The Blizzard hope to clinch a home playoff game this Saturday on the road to Cedar Rapids against the River Kings. The River Kings are coming off a tough game against the undefeated Arizona Rattlers on Saturday. They were shut out losing 56 to 0.
