Blizzard Duo Named IFL Co-Special Teams Players of the Week

Green Bay, WI - LB Derek Earls and DB Kenny Viser have been named IFL Co-Special Teams Players of the Week after the Blizzard's dramatic last second victory against the Nebraska Danger 53-47.

As Nebraska lined up to kick a potentially game-winning field goal with six seconds remaining, DB Kenny Viser broke through the line and blocked K Joe Houston's kick. LB Derek Earls recovered the loose ball kick and returned it for the game-winning touchdown.

In addition to the touchdown recovery, LB Derek Earls also led the team with seven tackles, a half sack, and forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. Earls is second on the team in tackles with 60 and he also leads the team in sacks with 2.5.

DB Kenny Viser finished the game with four tackles, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup.

Cedar Rapids QB Charles McCullum was named Offensive Player of the Week while Chicago DL P.J South was named Defensive Player of the Week.

This marks the third time in four weeks a Blizzard player has been awarded with a League honor. Quarterback Spencer Ohm and WR Ryan Balentine shared Offensive Player of the Week honors in Week 10, while DB Elijah Fields took home Defesive Player of the Week honors in Week 11.

The Blizzard return to action at the Resch Center Saturday night as the team takes on the Cedar Rapids Titans. It will be Star Wars Night and Fan Appreciation Night. Members of the Star Wars 501st regiment will be in attendance dressed in your favorite Star Wars characters costumes.
