Green Bay Blizzard News Release

The Green Bay Blizzard defeated the Nebraska Danger on Friday night in front of a great crowd for youth jersey night, by the score of 53 to 52.

In a back and forth game, first year QB, Leonorris Footman, scored his 5th rushing touchdown with 25 seconds to play to give his team the final lead. The game was sealed 10 seconds later when DB Bakari Triggs intercepted the second pass from former University of Nebraska all American QB Tommy Armstrong. The Blizzard then ran out the clock for their first victory of the season.

Footman, who played college ball at Alcon State, completed 11 of his 19 passes for 104 yards and one interception. Blizzard veterans Levi Copelin and Kezlow Smith caught 7 of the 11 completions. But for the second week in a row, Footman's legs led the offense. Leonorris ran for 77 yards and scored 5 touchdowns. Running back Kamal Cass from Eastern New Mexico and IFL Hall of Famer, B.J. Hill scored the other 2 rushing touchdowns.

Defensively, the Blizzard were led once again by DB Marquez Gollman from Grand Valley State. Marquez had 5 tackles and several pass break-ups. But the highlight of the defense was their ability to handle Nebraska's high profile QB, Tommy Armstrong. Armstrong is coming off a big first indoor game last week which earned him the IFL Offensive Player of the Week award. Friday night he was 14 of 23 passing for 2 touchdowns but also 2 interceptions. Although he ran for 73 yards and 1 TD, he also fumbled at a critical time in the 3rd quarter.

The Blizzard hit the road for the first time as they travel to Des Moines to take on their longtime rival and reigning IFL champs the Iowa Barnstormers on Saturday night. The Blizzard return home on April 5th for Kids Night: Kids 12 and under are FREE with the purchase of an adult ticket with special start time of 6:05pm and the FIRST EVER Post Game Laser Show!
