Green Bay, WI (May 6, 2015) - The Indoor Football League has announced that Blizzard defensive back Jamie Bender has been named the Defensive Player of the Week after his performance Saturday night at Bemidji.
Bender had a great game against the Bemidji Axemen with 7 tackles, a forced fumble, and 2 interceptions as he led a Blizzard defense that gave up a season low 28 points in a 55-28 Blizzard victory. For the season, Bender has 53 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and a league-high 5 interceptions.
Bender joins quarterback Donovan Porterie and kicker Jeff Budzien as Player of the Week selections this season. Porterie was named Offensive Player of the Week in week 4 and Budzien earned the honor in week 9.
