Blitz Players Attend YMCA Camp

Monday, July 12th - Bakersfield Blitz mascot Crusher and the Blitz Football Toss will be at the Little Red Schoolhouse Fruitvale location beginning at 9:30am. The Little Red Schoolhouse is located at 4601 Fruitvale Avenue in Bakersfield.

Tuesday, July 13th - Select Blitz players will be making appearances beginning Tuesday, July 13th - Friday, July 16th at the YMCA Summer 2004 Camp. Players will be attending the camp's morning activities and discussing the importance of education, staying in school as well as the significance of living a healthy lifestyle. The YMCA is located at 5880 District Boulevard in Bakersfield. For more information about the camp, contact the YMCA at 837-9622.

Wednesday, July 14th - Blitz mascot Crusher and select Blitz players will be at the Northeast Library for the Kern County Library, KGET-TV 17, and the Bakersfield Blitz "Wild About Reading" Storytime beginning at 10:00am. The Northeast Library is located at 3725 Columbus Street. For more information on the "Wild About Reading" program and how kids can earn free tickets to see the Bakersfield Blitz contact the Kern County Library at 868-0750 or log on to www.kerncountylibrary.org to sign up for the program.

Thursday, July 15th - Come on down to the Holiday Inn Select for the Indoor War Report as the "Voice of the Blitz" Kevin Bartl is joined by Blitz Head Coach Rick Van Horne, and select Blitz players from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. The IWR is a great chance for fans to meet their favorite members of the 2004 Blitz as well as win great prizes. The Holiday Inn Select is located at the corner of Truxtun Avenue and Q Street. The show can also be heard live each week on KGEO AM 1230.

Thursday, July 15th - Join the entire 2004 Bakersfield Blitz team at this month's Downtown Business Association's Street Faire beginning at 7:30pm. The Blitz will be just north of 20th Street and Chester Avenue on the West side of Chester Avenue. Come get autographs from your favorite Blitz player, they will also be helping with the Blitz Football Toss. This month's theme is "Summer Water Sports". The Street Faire runs 6:30pm - 9:30pm.

Saturday, July 17th - The Bakersfield Blitz return home after a month on the road to host the Central Valley Coyotes as KGET-TV 17 & Del Taco present Chad Elliott Bobblehead Doll Giveaway Night. The first 2,000 children 12 and under will receive a Blitz QB Chad Elliott Bobblehead Doll. Also, the Blitz and KGET-TV 17 will host the first annual Foam Football Fling. All fans are encouraged to bring a foam football or other type of foam ball to be thrown onto the field when the Blitz scores its first touchdown. The balls will be collected and donated the Police Activities League and other children's charities. The night also includes a silent auction of select 2003 Blitz jerseys. Jerseys of returning Blitz players such as Eric Mahanke, Chad Elliott, Phil Blackmon and many more will be on auction throughout the concourse during the first three quarters. All proceeds from the auction will go to Haylee's Hope/Epilepsy Society of Kern County and The Center for Craniofacial Disorders. If that isn't enough, all members of 24 Hour Fitness can receive two for one admission by showing their 24 Hour Fitness member ID at the box office as a part of 24 Hour Fitness Member Discount Night. The doors open at 6:00pm and the game starts at 7:00pm.
