Bakersfield Blitz News Release

Bakersfield - Bakersfield Blitz defensive specialist, Alex Wallace, signed a contract with the New Orleans VooDoo, the Blitz announced today.

Wallace played with the Blitz for the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He finished the 2006 season as the league leader in interceptions with 11 interceptions for 73 yards. The af2 awarded Wallace with the ADT Defensive Player of the Year honor in August.

"I'm honored and excited to be moving up to the AFL," Wallace said. "The Blitz have well prepared me for a higher level of arena football. Coach Compton and Walker both played in the AFL so we ran AFL style defenses."

Wallace said his family is very happy but his young son, Alex III, is having a hard time and says "It's too far for Dad."

"I told my son that I have to leave for awhile and play well so they can come and maybe move there with me," Alex said.

Wallace will be making his way to New Orleans in January. Training camp for the VooDoo begins in February.

Season tickets for the 2007 Blitz season are on sale now with season seats as low as $45. For more information, please call 377-BLITZ (2548) or visit www.bakersfieldblitz.com.
