Manchester Wolves News Release

The Manchester Wolves are proud to announce that the second player from their 2006 team to move up to the ranks of the Arena Football League is Brian Mance, their starting Defensive Specialist. Mance has signed a contract to play for the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League, and will join his Wolves' teammate Steve "Speedy" Gonzalez along with former college teammate and former Wolves' WR standout J.J. McKelvey.

Mance (5-11, 185), a rookie from Clemson, had a stellar 2006 season with the Wolves, in which he collected 69.5 total tackles (19th in the league), four interceptions, 10 pass breakups and one fumble recovery in just 13 regular season games played. In the Wolves' two playoff contests Mance recorded 8.5 total tackles and one interception.

"Brian earned his way into the starting lineup with us, and through his play earned a shot at the next level" said Wolves' Head Coach Ben Bennett. "He's a great young player who'll only get better with more experience."

The Alcolu, S.C. native came to the Wolves after an impressive four-year career with Clemson University, where he started his last 24 games. Mance, who entered Clemson on the same recruiting class as McKelvey, ended his career third in school history for interceptions (12), and eighth for passes defended (23). During his term he totaled more than 160 tackles and amassed more than 1,000 yards in kick returns, while also collecting three ACC Player of the Week awards. Professionally, Mance has made appearances in camps with the National Football League's Chicago Bears and Washington Redskins as well as NFL Europe's Frankfurt Galaxy.
