Blitz Attend Football Camp; Condors Booster Club host Fireworks Stand

Wednesday, June 30th - Blitz players Damian Romero, Eric Mahanke, and Delvin Myles will be joined by fellow teammates at the 2004 Westbrook Chapel's Vacation Bible School. This year's theme is sports and begins Monday, June 28th and runs through Friday, July 2nd at the Westbrook Chapel located at 6501 Schirra Street. The Blitz players will be at Westbrook Chapel from 9:00am - 12:00pm. Following camp the players will stick around and sign autographs. For more information on the camp contact Westbrook Chapel at 397-6000.

Thursday, July 1st - Come on down to the Bakersfield Condors Booster Club's annual firework stand. Beginning Thursday, July 1st, the fireworks stand will be located at the Fastrip location at the corner of Mt.Vernon Avenue and University Street. The stand will be open Thursday, July 1st 12:00pm - 10:00pm. Following that the stand will be open Friday, July 2nd - Sunday, July 4th 10:00am - 10:00pm. The booster club will be joined by past and present Condors throughout the evenings and is also looking for volunteers to assist tending the booth. If you are interested in helping at the booth, contact Kammi Sargent at 664-3743.

Thursday, July 1st - Come on down to the Holiday Inn Select for the Indoor War Report as the "Voice of the Blitz" Kevin Bartl is joined by Blitz Head Coach Rick Van Horne, as well as this weeks special guest, OL/DL James Heimuli from 6:00pm - 7:00pm. The IWR is a great chance for fans to meet their favorite members of the 2004 Blitz as well as win great prizes. The Holiday Inn Select is located at the corner of Truxtun Avenue and Q Street. The show can also be heard live each week on KGEO AM 1230.

Kern County Library's 2004 "Wild About Reading" program sponsored by KGET-TV 17 and The Bakersfield Blitz, runs until Saturday, July 31st. Any child who reads ten (10) books during the program will receive a voucher good for two (2) complimentary terrace tickets to the Blitz regular season finale on July 31st against the Hawaiian Islanders. The Bakersfield Condors 2004-2005 season schedule has been announced. The Condors will open their second season in the ECHL on Friday, October 22nd 2004 against the expansion Victoria Salmon Kings. Season tickets are now available with packages starting at just $30. Stop by the Bakersfield Sports Entertainment office at Centennial Garden or call the Condors at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information.

The annual Condors "Care-a-Van" is making its final prepartations to head out to your community. The "Care-a-Van" will be making stops in Ridgecrest, Tehachapi, and Taft with more towns to be announced soon. At each stop, by making a donation to Goodwill Industries or Houchin Blood Bank, fans can receive a free terrace level ticket for the Condors Opening Night game Friday, October 22nd against the expansion Victoria Salmon Kings.
