Blazers' Ingram, Wheat Kings' Hawryluk Earn CHL Weekly Honours

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Connor Ingram of the Kamloops Blazers is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending March 6 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.33 and save percentage of .969.

Ingram made 124 saves in three games last week backstopping the Blazers to three straight wins as the club battles for playoff positioning in the WHL's Western Conference. He earned first star honours in all three games beginning Wednesday night where he stopped 27 shots to record his fourth shutout of the season in a 5-0 victory over the Spokane Chiefs. Ingram then won back-to-back games against the Kelowna Rockets including Friday night before a national Sportsnet audience with a career-high 53 saves to help the Blazers preserve a 3-2 win, followed by a 44-save performance on Saturday night in another 3-2 win. The Blazers currently hold the first of two Western Conference Wildcard spots with a 32-25-5-4 record.

An 18-year-old from Imperial, SK, Ingram is playing in his second WHL season with the Blazers and currently carries a record of 29-15-5-4 with a goals-against-average of 2.69 and save percentage of .921. The 1997-born netminder is eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft and was listed 12th among North American goaltenders by NHL Central Scouting in January's Midterm Rankings.

Also considered for the award this week was 2016 NHL Draft prospect Tyler Parsons of the London Knights who made 55 saves while posting a 2-0-0-0 record along with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .965. In the QMJHL, Alex Bishop backstopped the Saint John Sea Dogs to a 2-0-0-0 record making 38 saves while posting a goals-against-average of 0.66 and save percentage of .974.

Toronto, ON - The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Florida Panthers prospect Jayce Hawryluk of the Brandon Wheat Kings is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 6 after recording 16 points in four games including 10 goals and six assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-12.

Hawryluk contributed four multi-point efforts to the Wheat Kings' offense last week helping the WHL's Eastern Conference leaders collect four straight wins. Last Wednesday he recorded a career-high five goals and added an assist to match a season-high six points as first star of a 12-2 victory over the Saskatoon Blades. He followed that effort with two big performances against the Moose Jaw Warriors including a goal and two assists on Friday in a 6-3 win, and Saturday with two goals and two assists in a 7-2 victory over their division rivals. Hawryluk finished the week with two goals and an assist as second star of an 8-1 win over the Regina Pats giving the Wheat Kings a first place record of 43-18-4-2 with five regular season games remaining.

A 20-year-old from Roblin, MB, Hawryluk is playing in his fourth WHL season with the Wheat Kings. He currently ranks fourth in league scoring with a career-high 40 goals and 55 assists for 95 points in 53 games. Earlier this month the 2014 second round pick signed an entry-level contract with the Panthers who selected him 32nd overall.

Also considered for the award this week was San Jose Sharks prospect Timo Meier of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies who scored six goals and five assists for 11 points in four games played, and Hunter Garlent of the Peterborough Petes who scored six goals with one assist for seven points in two games.
