After dropping the first of back to back home games, the Chicago Blaze (2-5) regrouped to get the win over the Springfield Spirit (5-2) 77-61. For the Blaze, Player of the Game E.C. Hill (Northern Illinois University) led all scores with 21 points, and contributed 9 rebounds. Mfon Udoka (DePaul University) finished with 18 points, and Dominique Canty added 11 points. The Blaze shot 83% from the free throw line, hitting 15 of their 18 shots.
For the Spirit, WNBA stars Swin Cash (WNBA Detroit Shock) finished with 15 points and Rebecca Lobo (WNBA Connecticut Sun) finished with 13 points. Kara Wolters (WNBA Sacramento Monarchs) added 12 points.
The Blaze will look to make it two in a row at home when they host the Grand Rapids Blizzards next Saturday, March 1st. Tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
The NWBL showcases professional women basketball players across the nation; including players from the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. The 2003 season will run through April. 03 season will run through April.
