Bloomington Blaze News Release

The Bloomington Blaze, presented by Mid-Illini Credit Union, enjoy home ice for the first two contests of a three-game weekend beginning Friday night.

The Blaze (3-12-2) host the Fort Wayne Komets to begin the weekend's action on Friday night. The Komets (11-5-0) are in second place in the Turner Conference, trailing first-place Evansville by one point. The Komets are on a Central Hockey League season-high six-game road winning streak after taking two games in Rapid City last weekend. Komets goalie Nick Boucher is 10-3-0, winning his last five appearances, and is unbeaten in six road games. K's right wing Bobby Chaumont is riding a four-game goal-scoring streak, currently highest in the CHL. The Blaze lost the only other meeting of the season between the clubs, 3-1 on Thanksgiving night in Fort Wayne.

The Tulsa Oilers visit U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday night after defeating the Blaze last Friday in Tulsa 7-3 in the only other meeting this season. The Oilers (10-7-2) sit in third place in the Berry Conference, and are led by current CHL Rookie of the Month Mike Ullrich and saves leader Ian Keserich. The Oilers visit Wichita on Friday before Saturday's contest in Bloomington.

The Blaze conclude the weekend with the second trip of the season to Evansville for a 5 p.m. Sunday contest at the Ford Center. Bloomington is 1-2-0 against the division leaders, and dropped the most recent matchup 3-2 on Sunday in Evansville.

The Blaze are led in scoring by Jon Booras with 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) and in goals by Booras and Kyle Laughlin (six each). Booras and Brodie Sheahan each have recorded 11 assists to share the team lead.

In personnel moves, the Blaze have waived forwards Karl Fournier and Matt Whitehead, who were initially placed on the suspended list after leaving the team last week.

Friday's contest is Pepsi Date Night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Fans who bring a Pepsi product to the Coliseum box office while buying a reserved seat ticket will receive a second ticket free, and with the purchase of any combo meal, the second of equal or lesser value is free.

Saturday night features the annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit Toys for Tots. Fans are asked to bring a new stuffed animal to be tossed as a donation onto the ice after the first Blaze goal. Game time on Friday and Saturday night at U.S. Cellular Coliseum is 7:05 p.m.
