Killer Bees Fall in Shootout 2-1

HIDALGO, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (10-7-2) fell to the Texas Brahmas (10-6-3) on Wednesday night with a final score of 2-1. Tomas Klempa scored the lone goal for Bees. The game was sent into overtime and then a shootout where the Brahmas secured the win.

The first period was a quiet one as both teams remained scoreless and penalty free.

The Brahmas scored the first goal of the night early in the second period. Adam Hogg had the shorthanded goal.

The Bees remained scoreless in the second period and, once again, took no penalties.

The Bees tied the game, 1-1, at 6:53 into the third period. Klempa took the feed from Dan Gendur and fired one past Mark Guggenberger from in front. The goal is Klempa's seventh goal of the season. Adam Bartholomay also earned the assist.

Again, there were no penalties for either team in the third period, and Texas remained scoreless for the period.

The game was sent into overtime tied at 1-1. The Bees out-chanced the Brahmas in the extra frame but nothing came of it.

A scoreless overtime sent the game into a shootout where Brenden Hodge made the game winning goal for the Brahmas. The Bees were held scoreless in the shootout.

Wylie Rogers made 19 saves in the net.

The Killer Bees will be on the road this weekend battling the Laredo Bucks on Friday and Saturday night. Puck drops at 7:30 p.m. at the Laredo Energy Arena. The Bees return home December 13th against Rapid City Rush. Tickets are available by calling 956-843-7825 or visiting killerbeehockey.com.
