Bakersfield Blaze News Release
After dropping a few close ones, the Blaze were never in the game tonight, and the Giants shellacked Bakersfield, 11-1.
The game got out of hand quickly, as the Giants sent 10 men to the plate in the 2nd inning - the first 6 all reached base safely, 5 came around to score, and the Blaze were behind 5-0 early.
Then, after a quiet middle of the game, the Giants collected 7 hits in the 7th inning, and doubled their lead from 5 to 10.
The Blaze got their only run on a Jose Gualdron solo homer in the 9th, his first of the year.
Mace Thurman took the loss for Bakersfield, falling to 3-3, while former Blaze Michael Main got the win for the Giants, going 5 shutout innings to improve to 2-1 on the year.
The Blaze are off tomorrow, but return home for 4 games with the Ports starting Tuesday. All four will be available on the internet at BakersfieldBlaze.com, and the opener is Facebook Fan Night at the park!
