Blaze Acquire Lutes in Trade with Denver

The Bloomington Blaze, fueled by Mid-Illini Credit Union, have traded rookie defenseman Michael Trebish to the Denver Cutthroats for veteran forward Brett Lutes.

Lutes reunites with Blaze coach Brian Gratz, who coached Lutes in the previous two seasons in the Central Hockey League with the Dayton Gems. Lutes has recorded 59 goals and 123 assists for 182 points in his 195-game CHL career that includes stops in Colorado, Dayton and Denver. Lutes has registered four goals and 19 assists for 23 points in 27 games this season with the Cutthroats.

Trebish has seven assists and 61 penalty minutes with a +7 rating in 39 games this season with the Blaze, his only professional games after a four-year collegiate career at Ferris State University.

The Blaze conclude a six-game road stretch in Moline on Friday against the Quad City Mallards before returning home Paint the Arena Red to face the Mallards at 7:05 p.m. Saturday on OSF St. Joseph Medical Center Heart Association Night. Fans who wear red to Saturday's game get in for only $10 and the Blaze will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned immediately after the game.

The Missouri Mavericks visit Bloomington on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. on a Casey's 8 Gallons Day, in which admission is only $8 with a voucher from area Casey's General Stores after fueling with eight gallons of gasoline. Fans are also invited to skate with the players after the game.
