Baltimore Blast News Release
Baltimore â The Baltimore Blast defeated the Philadelphia KiXX, 7-4, tonight at Du Burns Arena in the team's first game of the preseason. Lee Tschantret led the team with one goal and two assists for three. The Blast will start the 2004-05 MISL season in San Diego on October 9 against the Sockers.
Tarik Walker opened the scoring in the sixth minute of the first quarter to give the Blast the 1-0 lead that held up through the end of the quarter. P.J. Wakefield extended Baltimore's lead to 2-0 before the KiXX scored twice to tie the game. The Blast answered in the last minute of the first half, as Walker and Denison Cabral scored just 28 seconds apart to take a 4-2 lead into the halftime intermission. Allen Eller extended Baltimore's lead to 5-3 midway through the third quarter and Alex Guarza (a training camp invitee) and Tschantret scored in the final period to seal the 7-4 victory.
With the recent retirement of two-time MISL Champion goalkeeper Scott Hileman, the Blast relied on three young goalkeepers tonight, with Brian Rowland playing two quarters and Martin Konig and Kellon Baptiste each playing one quarter.
