
Blast cheerleaders to perform for soldiers

Baltimore â The Baltimore Blast announced today that the Blast cheerleaders have been invited to entertain wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Hospital in Bethesda, MD. The squad will perform a USO variety style show tonight, April 12th from 7-9 p.m. and will also provide gift bags for each injured troop member. The event, sponsored by USO of Metropolitan DC is part of the USO's monthly program to bring performers to the Hospital.
The Blast cheerleaders will be performing numerous dance routines for the soldiers, including a martial arts routine, a tap dance and a "Saturday Night Live"-type skit.
The cheerleading squad performs at all Blast home games and various community events throughout the year. The team incorporates a variety of styles of dance including hip-hop, jazz, pom, kick and funk into routines into high-energy routines during the player introduction and also dances and cheers on the sidelines throughout the games.
The Blast (15-20, sixth place in the MISL) has just four games remaining during the 2004-05 regular season. The Blast will host the Kansas City Comets this Friday night, April 15th at 7:35 p.m. at 1st Mariner Arena. Friday night is nesting doll night and the first 2,000 fans who enter the Arena will receive a free P.J. Wakefield nesting doll. The team will travel to Chicago on Saturday to face off against the Storm at 4 p.m. Baltimore's last home game of the season will be Friday, April 22 against the Milwaukee Wave.
